Pointing of slabs

After finishing my latest project, a new patio in Bognor Regis, I am now suffering from an achey back and sore knees. I have seen many different products for pointing of paving slabs....but which is best? The old fashioned, get on your knees and push the mortar into the gap or using one of the many jointing mortar compound systems? Yes I know I could pay a lad to do it but, time is the essence.
