We are having one of the best summers with weather for years! I wonder what you are meaning by poor weather?

Has anyone noticed any reduction in hours (an revenue of course) caused by the poor weather in the last two months?

Hi,

My name is Gareth and I just seem to have discovered what a blog/forum is (I know I'm a bit slow in this area) and am intrigued to communicate with others workers further afield (excuse the pun). I've been working in garden maintenance for about ten years now, mostly by myself, though with occasional forays into team-work. Previous decade spent as a freelance ecologist so keen on the wildlife side of things. Based in the Bristol region where I have built up an informal network of tree surgeons, hard landscapers, grass-cutters which is a good way to both generate work and pass on stuff that I cant do/dont want. Currently re-assessing my rates hence coming across this site.

Hi all

My name is Martin and ive been maintaining gardens big and small for about 15yrs now.

I run my own business which is slowly growing, we maintain a broad spectrum of properties ranging from small postage stamps to huge flats.

We are lucky where we live as it is a large retirement area near the sea and surrounded by countryside, perfect for the gardening round.

If you have any qustions i can help you with please ask as i will be picking all your brains :)

thanks

Martin

I have a small organic garden maintenance business called The Caring Gardener and I work in Brighton and Hove. I travel to my customers by bicycle with an attached trailer to avoid having to have a car. I have some very loyal customers who assist me by providing heavier tools that I need or stocking up on composts and clearing their own garden waste.
I like developing gardens over time with a focusing on having the right plant in the right place, making simple design changes in order to bring out the best in a customer's garden. I'm much more of plantsman than a landscaper with flowers and shrubs as my love. I've studied some Permaculture and like to bring those elements into my work.

My name is Stuart, I am 38 & 3/4! and I run a family business in Suffolk. We offer a full range of services from simple garden maintenance for both commercial & Domestic clients through to design and build of projects or even simple project management.

Our company is based around old fashioned values and tradional gardening methods and we try to recycle everything that we remove and use non chemical based treatments for things like weed and pest control.

Hi Clive,

You are the first to join the maintenance group.
Can you tell us a bit a bout what you do and where you operate?
